Blind South Korean Archer Sets World Record at London Olympics

For 26-year old Im Dong Hyun, all he sees are blurry colors. He doesn't wear prescriptive lenses, yet he is able to hit targets about 76 yards away. That's about 3/4 of the length of a football field!

He's an amazing archer for someone that can only see blurry colors. He is so amazing that he set a world record on the first day of the Olympics. Then followed up on that by helping his team win bronze at the archery finals on Saturday.

Let me just say that the South Korean's are no joke when it comes to archery. They are a formidable opponent.

And this goes to show that being blind does not in any way limit what one can accomplish. Nor should a blind person be underestimated.

Way to go, Im Dong Hyun!

Park Tae Hwan Wins Silver

A little bit of noteworthy information for any who visit.

Swimming hero, Park Tae Hwan of South Korea has won Silver in both the men's 400m and 200m individual races!

Chukkahaeyo!

Park swam the 400m on Saturday, after almost not qualifying for it that morning. Officials initially ruled him disqualified for a false start in the qualifying heat. After South Korea contested the ruling, FINA, the sport's global governing body, overturned the decision allowing him to advance to the final where he won Silver.

On Monday, July 30th, he swam in the 200m freestyle and took Silver once again. But this time sharing the podium with China's Sun Yang, the 400m champion from Saturday.

Awesome news for South Korea!

Siwon Shows Support For Nichkhun

In a tweet today, Siwon Choi of Super Junior, tweeted a friendly message of support. He asked that the public be understanding of Nichkhun and give him space to reflect upon his actions. This came up after volley upon volley of criticism and rebuke had been thrown at Nichkhun following his DUI (driving under the influence) accident involving a motorcyclist a couple of days ago.

"A few days ago korean idol group 2PM member Nichkhun was involved in a traffic accident while drinking and driving which is an absolutely illegal action. To this point Nickhun should regret and refrain from committing such actions ever again. I believe he is examining himself more because of this accident. Nickhun is a symbol of the Thai dream of success and has significance for both Korea and Thailand . Let us give him time to reflect from which he will emerge a better and reborn person. Thank you."

I hope the public remembers that idols are humans too and that they make mistakes. Luckily, this time around, the accident wasn't fatal.

If you own a drivers license, chances are that you've been in a situation where you almost hit someone. Think back to that time. And imagine that feeling multiplied a hundredfold. Not a great feeling is it? Let's follow Siwon's lead and give Nichkhun time to reflect.

Hello,Hello...

My very first ever blog. A bit slow in posting but here I go....

I'm the green tea drinker. No coffee for me and let's not mix milk and sugar in my tea, thank you.

Who am I? Well, I love Kpop and Jpop, mainly SS501, Super Junior, SHINee and Yamapi (my first obsession).  I also watch KDramas and JDramas.  I'll especially watch most dramas with Yamapi and Song Seung Heon. And to a lesser extent, Daniel Henney.  I like discovering idols to adore, while keeping the ones I have already.  The more the merrier I say.

I like to travel and have visited my dream destinations, Japan and Korea, and wouldn't mind going back again and again.  There is just sooo much to see, experience and eat. I would love to go to a concert to see one of my idol groups.

I'm slowly learning Japanese and Korean, a word at a time, and have known to mix both languages in one sentence (forgetting if it's a Korean or Japanese word).

I'm hoping to share my rambling thoughts as well as learn a few things along the way.

Nations Unite

(Olympic Fanfare blaring segueing into Call of the Champions)

For the next 17 days, the frenzy will be over the London Olympics. Did you know it is one of the highest viewed events in broadcast history? The last summer Olympics, in Beijing, was the highest viewed event, ever.

Countries from all over the globe will compete for gold. For the love, honor and respect of their country and the world. But what's most important, is that we will be putting all differences aside in the spirit of sportsmanship. Why is it that it's so easy to do that for this, but not everyday?

To all the nations- may the best man or woman win!

(Fade in Summon the Heroes with voice over) Dreams of gold. The ultimate test of courage, strength and agility. Fierce competition culminating in victory for one...

The London Olympics. The world is watching.

Cheesy, I know. Part of my line of work. Wonder how the opening ceremonies will go?

Chai~llo

Chai~llo! Wanted to introduce one of the authors to this blog, me! I am the chai loving author, you may refer to me as "Chai" or simply, "C".

Since this is the first blog on this site, I'll share a bit of myself. I love Korean dramas and K-Pop. Some of my favorites are dramas like Boys Before Flowers and You're Beautiful. I love artists like SS501 (they were my first K-Pop group that I fell in love with), CNBlue and FT Island!

I love anything spicy, the hotter the better! Foods like Korean, Indian and Mexican food are right up my alley.

I'll be doing a bit of thoughtful, and maybe sometimes some fangirly, commentary on Korean entertainment on this blog. And...I'm hoping to learn some Korean in the process. I already started learning how to read Korean, but am a little rusty. Practicing helps. I learned Japanese earlier in life, so I'm hoping to be a little more versatile in Asian languages. I may post questions that I'm hoping someone will have answers to. So if you see any of those, please help?

If you see any of my posts, drop me a line by commenting. And if you have any questions, let me know and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Hope to share a bunch of my love for the Asian culture with readers! Subscribe to us! Follow us! Kahmsahmnida!
